Spring Cleaning & Organization Simplified
As the holidays wind down and we transition into a new year, our homes can make us feel...anxious! I don't know about you, but the combination of all the stuff accumulated over winter and being stuck inside our homes makes me a little crazy! That's why I use February as a time to get reorganized and ready for Spring! Cleaning and organizing can seem daunting, but if you follow these three simple steps, I promise you'll become a lover of organizing spaces!
STEP 1: START SMALL
If you are new to organizing, don't start by trying to organize every space in your home at once. Pick something small that gives you instant gratification and is easy to tackle. For example, pick a drawer in your kitchen like the spice drawer. Take everything out of the drawer, vacuum it out, wipe it down, and then add an organizer like THIS ONE. You can then put the spices back in, or if you want to make it look pretty, try these LABELS and these JARS.
STEP 2: CLEAN OFTEN
Ok, I know what you're thinking. "Who has time to clean?" However, if you do it often, then the mess isn't so overwhelming. Think about it. If you leave the dishes in the sink for a day, then the next, then the next, you end up with a huge mess that takes forever to clean. If you put the dishes right into the dishwasher as you go, run it in the evening, and unload it in the morning, you'll seldom have a sink full of dishes!
STEP 3: FORM HABITS
Habits stick. They are so hard to break! Ask anyone who has ever bit their nails or smoked, and they will tell you that it's impossible to stop. IF you want to keep your home clean and organized then make it a habit! Try doing something small each day for a month that moves you closer to a clean and organized home, and you'll see that in no time, you don't even realize you are doing it.
